I think the narrator defines courage as what you do when your faced fear or a difficult time. He states that courage isn't always a yes or no, I think he is trying to say that sometimes you don't have a choice, sometimes you are forced to be brave like sitting rough the night and feeling the codlin your bones.
The narrator defines courage as being able to live everyday through war. He says that just being there is courageous, not just by doing something incredible. I define courage as a person who shows bravery and someone who tries to make a difference. By making a addifference, you stand up for what you believe in and not what other people tell you. Having courage doesn't mean you have to do something courageous, as some people think.

ReplyDeleteI agree with what Nora said. Courage is definitely about showing bravery and at least attempting to do something good. However I think courage and courageous are the same thing so if you're showing courage, you're being courageous.

I think the narrator defines courage as just staying in the war and not wimping out of it. What I mean by that is that just staying strong and not taking an easy way out of the war is were the real courage is at. Some soldiers might commit suicide or just try to escape, and thats what I mean by taking the easy way out. I define courage in the same way. As long as you stay strong and fight to the end, no matter what you are doing, I think you have a good amount of courage. Dan Barrera Primary Post

ReplyDeleteI think the narrator defines bravery with how you act when you are faced with a hard or difficult time. By saying that sometimes the bravest thing on earth was to sit through the night and feel the cold in your bones is a total example of having courage and bravery because those are the times when most people would quit and just give up. I would define courage similar to the narrator; courage is if you stay and fight even though you know it's dangerous and youre scared.
Primary post- The narrator describes courage as being strong in a difficult situation. Strong is not defined by strength but by how someone deals with the situation. The narrator also describes courage as how someone handles themselves in a certain situation. I define courage as something a person does that they normally wouldn't do. I also think courage is how you handle yourself in a situation that may be out of your comfort zone.

ReplyDeleteI agree with sean because thats also what i think the narrator defines fear as by facing you fears and overcome them. Sean says sometimes people don't have a choice and I also agree with this statement. To conclude i this Sean has great points in his paragraph

The narrator defines courage as being strong through out the war. He says that basically even the simplest thing provided courage. I think people need to be brave in order to be in the war. I define courage as being brave and trying to make a difference. People who want to make a difference stand up for what they believe and I think that requires a lot of courage.

ReplyDeleteThe book defines courage as not just having to do something intense or crazy but to sometimes just sit there and live the war. To Live the war at all takes a lot of courage. Courage is being able to be put into a difficult situation and handling yourself as well as possible. You don't always need to be the strongest or toughest to be the most courageous. I believe the book is looking at courage as something that takes you out of your element and handling yourself well during the time your in this position.
I agree with what Amy said. He does say that the littlest things can be courage. He pretty much says that even by doing small things that don't do much, they are very courageous. They are courageous because you are trying to make a difference and that is what O'Brien defines courageous by. The way O'Brien defines it, I agree completely too.
ReplyDeleteThe narrator defines courage is doing something you're scared to do. Sleeping at night takes courage because there are enemies all around you and an attack can happen at any time. I define courage as being able to do something that you're afraid to do. Going into war alone takes a lot of courage and not being scared takes even more courage. Going into something you disbelieve in also takes a lot of courage because it's something you go against.

ReplyDeleteI agree with Arup. You need to have a lot of courage to go into a war alone. The war is a scary place and stuff happens without warning. Also sleeping at night with enimies all around you takes a lot of courage because you never know what is going to happen.

ReplyDeleteI completely agree with Ashley. Sometimes, you just have live in the war day by day and go through it with all the courage you can have. Courage is something that you and only you can take on by yourself and overcome it. In the war, many of the soldiers did this all the time and dealt with it.
